Tableau Data Embeds on KU CMS Sites

Data tables embedded from the third-party service Tableau are not fully accessible at this time.

Requirements

  1. If you have embedded Tableau data on your KU CMS site, you must include one of the following required disclaimer statements before each embed of Tableau data on each individual page.
  2. The statement must precede each embed to warn screen reader users of the presence of inaccessible content that follows.

Required Disclaimer Statement Options

Option One:

“This page uses Tableau to display data as a chart. Some users may have trouble accessing the information Tableau displays on this page. An accessible version of the content below will be made available upon request. Please contact [department contact name] at [contact email] to request the content be made available in an accessible format.”

Option Two:

An accessible version of the content below will be made available upon request. Please contact [department contact name] at [contact email] to request the content be made available in an accessible format.”

Responding to Inquiries

While we do not expect departments to receive frequent requests for accessible versions of Tableau data, each department should have a plan in place to address requests should they occur.

If your department receives an inquiry, you will first need to work with the individual to find out in what accessible format they would like the data in. And, then determine the best path forward to get the data into an accessible format for them in a timely fashion. If your department does not have a local expert to address inquiries, there are external vendors who can convert the data into accessible PDFs.
