KU Veterans Alumni Network to host reception for university’s military-affiliated community

LAWRENCE—The KU Veterans Alumni Network will host its End-of-Year Reception on May 7 at the Jayhawk Welcome Center. The event is open to the public. Faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends are invited to attend in support of KU’s military-affiliated community.

The reception will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in The Pub inside the Jayhawk Welcome Center, with a short program beginning at 5 p.m.

The annual reception brings together KU’s military-affiliated community to celebrate a semester of service, leadership and shared accomplishment. The program will include presentation of the KU Veterans Alumni Network’s Honorary Coins, awarded annually to individuals who have made significant contributions to the iniversity’s military-affiliated community. Three recipients will be recognized this year.

“This event is about community,” said Mike Denning, KU’s assistant vice chancellor for national defense initiatives and outgoing president of the Veterans Alumni Network. “It’s a chance to reflect on what we’ve accomplished together and reaffirm KU’s commitment to those who serve.”

Those who plan to attend the reception are encouraged to RSVP on the KU Alumni website.
