Fields and Character Limits

News Headline*

  • Character Limits: none
  • Help Text: Enter the News Headline. This field renders as an <h2>. See Headers for guidelines and best practices for headlines and sub-headlines.
  • Default Value: Latest News

Featured Articles*

  • Featured articles only
  • All news articles (Default)

Filter terms

  • Maximum Number of Terms: 3 or fewer terms recommended
  • Help Text: Enter filter terms as a comma separated list. Filter terms must match an existing tag. The filter terms field is only used if the Featured Articles option, "All news articles," is selected. If the "Featured articles only" option is selected, the filter terms field is hidden and ignored.
  • Default Value: (empty)

All News Link

  • URL
  • Link text
  • Help Text: A valid link requires both URL and Link Text; however, this field is not required. Clear both fields to remove the "All News" link entirely.
  • Default Value:
    • URL: /news
    • Link text: See all news

Events Heading*

  • Character Limits: none
  • Help Text: Enter the Events Headline
  • Default Value: Upcoming Events

Localist Code*

  • Help Text: Get the Localist widget code and paste it in the text area. See the section, "Adding to a new Content or Landing page," for instructions.

All Events Link

  • URL
  • Link text
  • Help Text: A valid link requires both URL and Link Text; however, this field is not required. Clear both fields to remove the "All Events" link entirely.
  • Default Value:
    • URL: /events
    • Link text: See all events

Where Can You Use This Section?

The section is available in the following templates and content types:

Content types

  • Content Page
  • Landing Page
  • Kitchen Sink

Adding to a new Content or Landing Page

  1. Enter the headline text for the News Headline, (a limit of 40 characters or less is recommended.)
  2. Select whether to include Featured articles only or All news articles.
  3. Enter filter terms as a comma separated list.
    • NOTE: Filter terms only apply when the All news articles option is selected, (see step number 2, above.)
  4. If using an All News link, enter the URL and Link text.
  5. Enter the headline text for the Events Headline, (a limit of 40 characters or less is recommended.)
  6. Enter the Localist code.
  7. If using an All Events link, enter the URL and Link text.

To get the Localist code

  1. Go to the KU Calendar.
  2. Select the three dot ellipses to the right of the Filter Results button.
  3. Select the Widget builder.
  4. Under Template select Body 19 - News and Events.
    • NOTE: Until the template on the KU Calendar site is updated, continue using the Body 19 - News and Events template for the News 2 (events) Localist code.
  5. Configure other options as desired.
  6. Select the Generate Embed Code button to the bottom of the page.
  7. Copy the embed code.
  8. Paste it into the Enter the Localist code field.

Removing a Section

To permanently remove a section from a page:

  1. Select the vertical ellipsis to the right of the Edit button at the top-right of your section, select Remove

  2. Select Save at the bottom left of the form
