Parking and shuttle information for KU Conference Center ribbon-cutting Nov. 12


LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas is providing parking and shuttle options for community members attending the Nov. 12 ribbon-cutting for the new KU Conference Center.

The event will be hosted by Chancellor Douglas A. Girod, with featured guests including Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly, Kansas legislators, city of Lawrence officials and regional business leaders.

The program will begin at 11 a.m. Doors open at 10:30 a.m.

The event, which was originally announced in October, is open to all members of the community. Attendees are asked to RSVP by Nov. 10.

Free parking

Free parking is available adjacent to the KU Conference Center in Lot 97 and Lot 94, located immediately east of the conference center and football stadium. Together, these two lots can accommodate about 120 vehicles for this event. Parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Please note, these two lots are intended primarily for guests who are visiting KU for this event. KU employees are kindly asked to refrain from using these lots.

Paid parking

Paid parking is available in the Mississippi Street Garage, which is a five-minute walk from the KU Conference Center. Hourly parking is $2.25 for the first hour and $2 for subsequent hours. Guests may utilize garage pay stations or the ParkMobile app. 

Chartered shuttles

KU will provide free event shuttles from downtown Lawrence. Shuttles will depart the TownePlace Suites by Marriott at 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. and go directly to the KU Conference Center. Shuttles will return downtown after the event, departing from the KU Conference Center at 12:30 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. 

Other options

For guests who don’t want to drive or take a shuttle, the KU Conference Center is approximately a 15-minute walk from the heart of downtown. Additionally, rideshare services are a viable option.
