Manage Display: Field Collection Items

  1. Let's test our content type out again by adding content into our custom Visiting Lecturers content type.  Please note, that changes made to the content type after pages have already been created with that content type will not show those changes, hence the reason we are creating a new one.

    Left column settings

    This example will display differently for you, as I already had some styles set for the group_left_col and group_right_col divs.

    .group_left_col { float: left; width: 230px; }
    .group_right_col { float: left; width: 590px;}
    .group_left_col img { padding: 3px; border: 1px solid #ccc; margin: 0 1em 1em 0; }
    .field-name-field-website-lecturer { margin-top: 1em; }

    The above CSS is only good for wider desktop resolutions. Additional styling using media-queries will be needed to give it a better, more consistent user experience in smaller browser windows and mobile devices.

  2. As you can see, we have field labels appearing in our field collection above both the date and the location fields and our location is a link.  To remove those, go to your field collection (Structure -> Field Collections) and then click on manage display for the field collection used in our custom content type.
  3. To remove the label header, set the label drop down to <Hidden> and for the Location field, change the format drop down to Plain text and then click Save.

  4. Next we will change the way the date and time are displayed.
