CMS Site Requirements
Here are the basic requirements for KU CMS Websites. The requirements vary slightly depending on which version of the KU Brand your site uses. Since the 2017 KU Brand removes the feathered header photo that requirement is removed with the updated look.
The site must have a contact page, which links to the Contact link in the footer.
The contact information in the footer contains:
- The street address
- An email address
- A phone number
The width of the top and second level navigation fits on a single line and does not wrap to a second line on computer and tablet devices.
All email links show the email address: email@example.com.
The site contains no broken links.
Images and Slideshows
All images in each slideshow are the same dimension and fill the page the slideshow is placed on horizontally.
All images utilize alternative text for ADA compliance.
All phone numbers are formatted: xxx-xxx-xxxx.
Academic unit sites contain degree information using the Degree — Add a Degree, and Degree — General Content, content types.
Degrees abbreviations follow established degree standards: BA, MS, PhD etc.
Degree — General Content pages contain:
- An overview of the degree
- Admission information
- Information about careers
Information pertaining to all degrees offered resides in the Academics section.
All person profiles are either created using the People content type or are imported from Faculty Pro.
The KU Template
The CMS KU Template block regions are unaltered with the exception of the Unit/Department Sidebar.
The following blocks appear on every page, unless an exception has been granted from the KU Office of Marketing and Communication:
- “Why KU” Brag points
- Far Above
- KU Today Headline
Site Header — Both 2017 KU Brand and 2012 KU Brand
